#082 Arkitektfirmaet C. F. Møller

There is not much to speculate – although the concept of a charity chair may sound paradoxical, who is to say that any form of charity is more rightful than another?

Having visited the township, and seen the work of Caren Smuts, there is no incentive to hold back: This is undoubtedly a worthy cause, well deserving any help they can get. Combine this with the obvious pleasure of playing around with a piece of pristine furniture, and you have some workshop time well spent.

The abstract whiteness of the chair gave me the urge to treat it as a projection screen, to beam pixels onto it, and finally – in an act of restrained violence – to take the power tools to its surface. Seeing the light now filtering through it, you could say it has become even more of an abstraction than it was before, yet now its material essence is also exposed.

Why buy this chair? Why not! A chair is a chair – but some chairs are more charitable than others. Make a bid!
